The Chicago Public Library is initiating a strategic and capital planning process to guide its operations over the next five years. The library emphasizes the importance of including feedback from all Chicago residents in shaping its future.
To gather input, the library has introduced a community survey. This survey, which takes between 10 to 15 minutes to complete, invites Chicagoans to express how they use or do not use the library and what services, programs, or resources they would like it to offer going forward.
The information collected through this survey will serve several purposes: understanding current usage of library services by patrons, identifying areas where the library excels and where there are opportunities for improvement, gathering insights from non-users about their reasons for not engaging with the library, and evaluating public perceptions regarding capital needs.
Participation in this initiative is encouraged through several means. Residents can take the survey directly via a provided link (chi.gov/communitysurvey), share it on social media while tagging @chipublib, or download an informational flyer about the survey.
