Ronald Lawless from the Association of Financial Educators will lead several workshops at multiple locations. These include "Escape Debt Prison," which addresses managing and reducing debt, and "Financial Planning Basics," covering savings, investments, and risk management. Another workshop focuses on retirement options such as 401(k)s, IRAs, and pensions.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will host sessions for small business owners at various libraries. Topics include personal finance management, understanding business cash flow, and applying for loans.
At Douglass Library, Josúe Fernandez from the Credit Counseling Service of Northern Illinois will present a series on budgeting, mental health connections to finances, investing basics, and retirement challenges.
Additionally, the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office provides an online platform called FinWell Hub with free personal finance resources accessible to all residents.
