Chicago Public Library introduces seed libraries across multiple branches
Chris Brown Commissioner | Chicago Public Library

The Chicago Public Library (CPL) has announced the availability of seed libraries at various branches throughout its system. These libraries offer an opportunity for residents to access garden seeds, much like borrowing books. The initiative provides a simple way for community members to engage in gardening without significant commitment.

Visitors can explore these seed libraries during regular library hours and are encouraged to check out related gardening literature, particularly focusing on plant growth in the Chicago area.

Seed libraries are available at the following CPL locations: Avalon, Bucktown-Wicker Park, Budlong Woods, Douglass, Edgebrook, Edgewater, Humboldt Park, Jeffrey Manor, Legler Regional Library, Logan Square, Lozano, Manning, North Pulaski, Portage Cragin, Richard J. Daley, Sulzer Regional Library, Vodak-East Side and Wrightwood-Ashburn.

Potential visitors should be aware that some seed libraries operate only seasonally. It is advisable to contact the specific branch beforehand to confirm the availability of their seed library services.
