McGaw YMCA to hold community event to support programs on May 8
Jesse Chatz Chief of Staff & Strategy | Mcgaw YMCA

McGaw YMCA in Evanston, Illinois, is bringing back its Day of Giving event on May 8, 2025. The event aims to involve the community in supporting essential programs by rallying 130 donors within 24 hours.

A matching gift will double each donation made on that day, up to a total of $15,000. Mark Metz, Chair of the McGaw YMCA Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, saying, “We are thrilled to bring back the McGaw YMCA Day of Giving. This is a powerful opportunity for our community to come together and support the Y programs that change lives. With the support of a generous match, every gift will go twice as far.”

Every donation will be acknowledged by planting a colorful pinwheel in the Garden of Gratitude located on the front lawn of McGaw YMCA, symbolizing the brighter future that donors contribute to in Evanston.

Participants can support the event by donating online, giving in person at the McGaw YMCA, and spreading the word about the campaign to help meet the goal of 130 donors and unlocking the full matching gift.
