Rosa Escareño, General Superintendent & Chief Executive Officer | Chicago Park District

Chicago Park District has announced that online registration for its summer day camps and programs will begin on April 14 and 15 at 9 a.m. Interested participants can view the offerings online. The programs include a wide range of activities such as aquatics, sports leagues, arts programs, and social clubs.

"We are thrilled to welcome our young people to parks citywide to explore natural areas, socialize with peers, and create enduring memories at day camp," stated Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, the Chicago Park District's General Superintendent and CEO. "Our staff is eager and prepared to serve Chicagoans as they embrace new hobbies and skills during the summer programming session."

The summer day camp, which is open to children ages 6 to 12, will feature activities aimed at boosting brain development, sports, fitness, and arts. The camp will run from June 23 to August 1, 2025. Parents can register online for camp sessions at parks west of California Ave. on April 14 and those east of California Ave. on April 15.

Summer programs for patrons of all ages will begin on June 16 and end on August 10, 2025. These include various activities like teen water polo clubs, senior walking clubs, and softball leagues. Similar to the camp registration, parks west and east of California Ave. will have separate registration days starting on April 14 and 15, respectively.

The Chicago Park District offers numerous activities for different age groups. Early childhood programs include gymnastics and parent-child swimming. Youth programs consist of Adventure Camp and various arts activities. Teens can engage in basketball, water polo, and learn leadership skills through Recreation Leader in Training sessions. Adults have opportunities to explore arts and participate in sports. Seniors can join walking clubs and socialize through programs like pickleball.

The district also sponsors the Summer Food Service Program, providing around 41,000 meals daily to youth at various locations. This federally funded program aims to ensure that young participants receive nutritious meals and education on nutrition.

Financial assistance is available for families who may find the program costs challenging, ensuring that no child is turned away due to financial constraints.

Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and the Chicago Park District encourage community participation to make the most of the summer opportunities provided.
