Teen Winter Challenge announces prize winners and exhibition details
Chris Brown Commissioner | Chicago Public Library

220 Chicago high school students participated in the 10th Annual Teen Winter Challenge, submitting their portfolios for review by a jury panel composed of library staff and a guest judge. Among these submissions, 25 winners were chosen to receive monetary awards and have a piece showcased in an exhibition at the Harold Washington Library Center.

The exhibition, set to open in May, will be on display until the next year's competition. Additionally, winners and selected finalists will be included in a print catalog, with a digital version featuring all entries forthcoming.

Chicago Public Library expressed pride in supporting these young artists. "We would like to congratulate all of the applicants on their hard work and thank them for their generosity in choosing to share their art with the library," the library noted. They encouraged students to continue honing their skills and to carry their creativity forward.

Special thanks were extended to library staff, high school teachers, and arts organizations across Chicago for their commitment to working with youth.

The prize winners in the Senior Achievement category are Valeria PR (Grand Prize Winner), Adel P (Runner Up), and Simon M (Runner Up). For the Young Artist Award, Fani M won the Grand Prize, with Conrad B and Adara T as runners-up. Honorable mentions included Aidan T, Allison X, and others.
