Chicago Park District to host Spring Games Opening Ceremony on May 1st

The Chicago Park District is set to host the Opening Ceremony for the Spring Games at Soldier Field on May 1st. This event marks the start of a track and field competition specifically for athletes with intellectual disabilities, to be held at Dunbar Park from May 5 to 9.

The ceremony will feature a parade of athletes and is scheduled to commence at 9:45 a.m., with the program beginning around 11:15 a.m. The event welcomes the general public to attend free of charge.

Approximately 3,000 individuals, including athletes, coaches, spectators, and volunteers, are expected to participate, celebrating the commencement of this annual competition. Chicago Park District programming has contributed around 1,000 athletes to the competition. The event aims to serve as a pep rally, generating excitement and setting a cheerful tone for the subsequent games.
