Today, the Chicago Park District hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Revere Park, unveiling four new tennis courts and two pickleball courts. The event held at 2509 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago’s North Center Community marked a $400,000 investment for the area, with local officials and community members in attendance.
Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa stated, "As we continue to expand opportunities for recreation across the city, we are also building the infrastructure necessary to support the health and wellness priorities identified in our Strategic Plan." He emphasized the role of park features such as tennis and pickleball courts in encouraging active recreation among people of all ages.
The Park District's enhancements to Revere Park included rehabilitating the existing tennis courts, installing new drainage systems, and adding pickleball striping to one court. Additionally, an ADA accessible entrance, a new maintenance gate, and fencing have been incorporated. The funding for this project comes from the City of Chicago’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) fund.
The improvements were supported by Alderperson Matt Martin of the 47th Ward, who helped secure the financing for these upgrades. This initiative is part of the Park District’s citywide Pickleball Mania program, aiming to expand the number of pickleball courts to over 200 by the end of 2025.
