Chicago's five-year homelessness plan seeks public input through engagement survey
Chris Brown Commissioner | Chicago Public Library

Homelessness remains a significant challenge in Chicago, impacting thousands of residents who need stable housing. The City of Chicago has initiated a Five-Year Plan on Homelessness to address this issue through "real solutions," beginning with the ACCTion framework: Awareness, Curiosity, Connection, and Transformation.

The initiative involves collaboration with city departments, individuals with lived experiences of homelessness, and various community stakeholders. The goal is to ensure that every resident has access to safe shelter or affordable housing options. The process includes focus groups, interviews, and public meetings aimed at creating a plan that meets the needs of those who are unhoused or precariously housed.

Residents can participate by visiting the city's website for updates on public meetings and progress related to the plan. Additionally, an online survey is available for citizens to share their thoughts and help shape the city's response to homelessness. Community members are encouraged to spread awareness about the plan and motivate others to engage in this initiative.
