Chicago Public Library announces makers-in-residence for summer and fall 2025
Chris Brown Commissioner | Chicago Public Library

The Chicago Public Library has announced its summer and fall 2025 Makers-in-Residence at the Harold Washington Library Center: Nicole Lowe and Molly Brodzeller. This program provides an opportunity for Chicagoans to engage with unique art forms and develop new skills.

Nicole Lowe, the Summer Maker-in-Residence, describes herself as "a multifaceted, endlessly curious weirdo." She is a woodworker, welder, musician, and animator. Lowe also works for the Goodman Theatre Props Department and operates from her studio in the Austin neighborhood. Her residency will run from late May through late July, during which she will conduct woodworking workshops.

Molly Brodzeller is the Fall Maker-in-Residence. A Chicago-based artist specializing in stained glass window pieces and jewelry, Brodzeller has nearly five years of experience creating a wide range of glasswork from their apartment studio. They design custom pieces on commission and offer workshops in glass jewelry making. Brodzeller's residency begins in late September.

The Maker-in-Residence program invites members of Chicago's creative community into the library to enhance their digital fabrication practice and collaborate with the public. Now in its seventh year, it is funded by Exelon, Peoples Gas, and other donors to the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
