Attendees of this summer's General Synod 35 will have access to a selection of 35 workshops. These sessions are a staple of the event, allowing leaders from various denominations to share their knowledge and skills with the broader church community.
The Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson, UCC General Minister and President/CEO, highlighted five key themes for this year's workshops: climate change, decolonization, leadership development, spirituality and the church, and strengthening the church. The workshops are designed around these themes to address the evolving needs of the wider church.
“General Synod workshops are always a beautiful and robust collection of offerings from across the denomination,” stated the Rev. Tracy Howe, team lead for Faith Education, Innovation, and Formation (Faith INFO) team and coordinator of Synod workshops. “We have really practical and timely offerings for all our local churches are dealing with at this time — from immigration to worship design and more.”
Participants can select from 17 different one-hour presentations and panels in each of two sessions scheduled for Sunday, July 13. The first session starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by another at 12:00 p.m. Details regarding times and room assignments will be provided in upcoming weeks.
Workshops will not be available via livestream; however, attendees can join any session with available seating.
The full list of workshops is accessible on the General Synod website. Registration is required to attend any workshop or as a delegate or visitor to General Synod. Online registration ends on Friday, June 13 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
