Chicago Public Library launches summer program for kids aged 0-13
Chris Brown Commissioner | Chicago Public Library

Calling all children aged 0 to 13 and their families: the Chicago Public Library (CPL) is inviting you to participate in its summer program. The initiative encourages reading, creativity, and fun throughout the summer months.

To join, families can sign up using an online form starting June 21 or visit their local library. Participants are encouraged to keep track of their reading and activities on a log sheet, which can be printed or picked up at any neighborhood library.

The program's completion criteria include reading for at least 25 days, with a minimum of 20 minutes per day dedicated to books, eBooks, comics, or other materials. Additionally, participants must engage in at least five activities such as attending a library event, creating art, writing a story, or trying something new.

Completed logs should be submitted by August 3 at any CPL location to earn a t-shirt while supplies last. Submissions can be made in English or Spanish.

For more information on summer events and reading recommendations, participants are encouraged to visit chipublib.org/summer.

"We will start accepting submissions for Summer at CPL on Saturday, June 21!"
