Registered attendees of General Synod 35 have the opportunity to participate in a more meaningful way by joining the choir or volunteering for movement and drama teams to enhance the worship experience. Cheryl Lindsay, minister for Worship and Theology, is the contact person for those interested in signing up. She can be reached at lindsayc@ucc.org. Participants will engage in Zoom rehearsals before the event and on-site during the gathering.
“I always love to hear, see, and recognize as many different people participating in worship leadership as possible. Liturgy literally means work of the people, and our worship gatherings should reflect that,” said Lindsay. “Participation by the entire congregation we create at General Synod reminds us of our connectedness and forges the church as a community. We get to experience the kindom realized in this way. Worship leadership that reflects the immense diversity of the United Church of Christ celebrates and honors the One who prayed ‘that they may all be one.'”
The General Synod Worship Planning Community plans to release a digital resource called Go Deeper in early July. This companion resource will include devotionals, contemplative practices, poetry, Living Psalms, music, and more for local church use during and after General Synod.
This resource aims to connect those attending General Synod with those at home, alongside themes from Sermon Seeds and Worship Ways throughout July. For pastors needing pulpit supply during General Synod or another Sunday, Lindsay has recorded a sermon available for use in local churches. These resources are accessible through Sermon Seeds and Worship Ways on ucc.org.
Registration for General Synod 35 is currently open.
