Chicago Public Library has announced a collaboration with the AI Safety Awareness Project to host workshops on artificial intelligence this August. The AI Safety Awareness Project is a volunteer organization focused on educating the public about AI, including its advantages and potential risks.
The library will offer two types of workshops across various locations throughout August: one for the general public and another specifically for seniors and older adults. No prior knowledge of AI is necessary to participate.
Workshops for the general audience are scheduled as follows:
- Tuesday, August 5 at 6pm at Garfield Ridge branch, 6348 S Archer Avenue
- Monday, August 18 at 5:30pm at Mayfair branch, 4400 W. Lawrence Ave
- Wednesday, August 20 at 6pm at Portage Craigin branch, 5801 W Belmont Ave
- Friday, August 22 at 10:30am at Jeffrey Manor branch, 2401 E. 100th St
Workshops designed for seniors will take place on these dates:
- Saturday, August 2 at 2pm at Douglass branch, 3353 W. 13th Street
- Thursday, August 7 at 2pm at South Chicago branch, same address as Douglass
- Monday, August 11 at 1pm at North Austin branch, 5724 W. North Ave
- Friday, August 15 at 2pm at Whitney Young branch, 415 E.79th Street
- Monday, August 25 at Woodson Regional Library from [time not specified], located in Chicago IL

Participants are encouraged to join these sessions to gain insights into artificial intelligence and its effects on society.
