As the General Synod of the United Church of Christ approaches, the National Setting has announced plans to make parts of the event accessible online. The Synod, scheduled for July 11-15 in Kansas City, will have its plenary sessions and worship gatherings livestreamed on a dedicated page of the UCC website.

Rev. Joshua Baird, General Synod Administrator and UCC Chief of Staff, stated, “While much of our focus in planning General Synod goes toward creating the best possible in-person gathering, we also want to invite those unable to come to Kansas City to be attuned to the work of this broader body and joined together in worship.”

However, not all elements will be available online. Keynote speaker Jennifer Butler's address, workshops, special events, and fellowship times are among those that will not be livestreamed. The decision to record and broadcast plenary sessions aims to ensure transparency and accessibility for delegates' collective work.

The Synod will feature three worship services. A community service is planned for Sunday, July 13 at 2:00 CDT with Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson preaching. This service invites local residents to attend without charge.

Opening and closing worship services on July 11 and 15 will have Rev. Marilyn Pagán-Banks and Rev. Tony Coleman as preachers respectively.

For those interested in attending or viewing remotely, the General Synod Agenda-at-a-Glance provides details on session timings based on local CDT time. Registration remains open online and can also be completed onsite at the Kansas City Convention Center.
