Sunday morning at General Synod 35 featured a memorable worship experience for Youth@Synod, focused on Communion and Baptism. The event started with a performance by KinShift Music, setting the stage for a reflective time of worship. Participants were offered the choice between traditional communion wafers or snickerdoodle cookies.
Before receiving Communion, youth collected a small shell from a bowl of water as a keepsake symbolizing their baptism and spiritual journey at the Synod. This simple gesture provided an opportunity for reflection and belonging.
After worship, UCC General Minister and President/CEO, Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson joined the youth for an engaging Q&A session. Initially hesitant, the participants soon became active in conversation with the denomination’s leader during the lively 20-minute session.
The combination of communion, baptism, music, and open dialogue made it a significant day for those attending the Synod.
