Chicago Public Library is offering free homework help for students as the new school year begins. The library’s Teacher in the Library program provides assistance from certified teachers both online and in person at locations across the city.
"Get help from a certified teacher to complete homework and improve study skills. Teacher in the Library is available online or in person," states Chicago Public Library.
The program will start on Monday, August 25, and will continue throughout the school year, except during public school breaks. Online sessions are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Families can register for these virtual sessions to ask questions or stay for the entire session.
In-person homework help is also available at multiple library branches, with schedules varying by location. Some branches offer support in languages such as Spanish, Tagalog, Cebuano, Mandarin (coming soon), Amharic, and Polish.
The program is supported by donors to the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
Students can also access Brainfuse online tutoring every day from 2 to 11 p.m. This service is available through any internet-connected device using a library card. Tutoring covers writing assignments, math, science, social studies, Spanish homework, English as a Second Language lessons, and more. Brainfuse offers resources in English and Spanish for students ranging from early elementary grades through advanced college prep. Additional features include practice tests for standardized exams like the ACT/SAT, a writing lab, video content, and other materials accessible at any time.
Further recommended resources are provided by CPL librarians on dedicated Kids and Teens pages on their website.
