Chris Brown, Commissioner | Chicago Public Library Humboldt Park Branch

The Chicago Public Library will participate in the 40th Annual Printers Row Lit Fest, which will be held on September 6 and 7 in the South Loop. The festival is scheduled to run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day, regardless of weather conditions. The event takes place along South Dearborn Street, stretching from Ida B. Wells to Polk Street.

Printers Row Lit Fest is recognized as one of the leading outdoor literary festivals in the country, attracting large crowds that include book enthusiasts, authors, publishers, and educators for a weekend focused on literature.

Attendees are encouraged to visit the Chicago Public Library booth during the festival. Staff members from both the Library and the Chicago Public Library Foundation will be present to provide information about upcoming events and services available at library branches throughout Chicago. They will also answer questions, share stories, and host rounds of literary trivia.

"This free, family-friendly event will transform South Dearborn Street (from Ida B. Wells to Polk Street) into a lively celebration of literature and learning."

Sandra Cisneros, author of "The House on Mango Street," is set to headline this year’s festival as the featured guest. The schedule includes more than 70 live literary programs across six stages located both indoors and outdoors. Over 200 booksellers from around the country will offer a variety of books ranging from rare editions to current bestsellers.

Visitors can meet Pulitzer Prize-winning authors as well as other established writers and new voices in literature. For those interested in writing themselves, there are panel discussions and workshops led by experienced authors.

Programming for children and families includes storytelling sessions, interactive activities, and entertainment designed for young readers.
