Chicago Public Library seeks LEGO creations for city-themed exhibit
Chris Brown, Commissioner | Chicago Public Library Humboldt Park Branch

The Chicago Public Library is inviting the public to participate in a new LEGO exhibit that aims to showcase the city’s history and culture through creative brick designs. The initiative, titled “Reimagine Chicago Brick by Brick,” encourages people of all ages to submit their own LEGO models inspired by various aspects of Chicago, including its architecture, neighborhoods, food, music, parks, and history.

Participants are asked to build their models off-site using their own LEGO bricks. Each submission should include three high-quality photos of the completed model with dimensions, a brief description explaining the design and inspiration behind it, as well as contact information. Entries must be submitted via email by Monday, December 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM. Selected artists will have their work displayed at the Harold Washington Library Center’s 9th Floor Gallery starting April 2026.

The library suggests that those seeking inspiration can browse its Digital Collections or explore other local archives for historical materials related to Chicago.

The Harold Washington Library Center is located at 400 S. State Street in Chicago.

Questions and submissions should be sent to specoll@chipublib.org. According to organizers, “LEGO bricks will not be provided. All models/designs must be completed off-site and dropped off at the library.”
