The Chicago Public Library Board of Directors is set to hold its upcoming meeting on September 16, 2025, at the Merlo Library, located at 644 W. Belmont Avenue. Attendees will be allowed entry beginning at 8:45 a.m.
Members of the public who wish to provide input are encouraged to submit written statements up to 24 hours before the meeting via email at ebjones@chipublib.org. Those attending in person will also have an opportunity to speak toward the end of the meeting, with selected speakers allotted up to two minutes each.
The agenda for this session includes a welcome to Merlo Library and approval of minutes from the May 20, 2025 meeting. Reports covering administration and finance, programming and data updates, operations and facilities, and a Commissioner’s Report are scheduled as information-only items.
Specific topics listed under reports include "Harold Washington Library Center: Driving Downtown Visitation and Vitality," "Chicago Public Library 2024 Annual Report: Sharing Our Story," "Chicago Zine Fest at CPL: Positioning Harold Washington as a Cultural Stage," "Justice Sonia Sotomayor at Harold Washington Library Center," "Capital Strategy Launch and Strategic Planning Update," "Investing in Safety: Training and Taskforce Final Report," "Legler Regional Food Pantry Pilot," as well as events like Edgewater and Beverly Pride focused on inclusion and free expression. The board will also review media updates and upcoming press opportunities.
