Chicago Public Library is working with Medicare Teachers to provide free informational sessions about Medicare changes for 2026. These sessions, available both in-person and online, are aimed at adults nearing age 65, individuals reviewing or changing their current Medicare plans, and caregivers assisting older adults.
The library announced that the sessions will help participants understand key aspects of Medicare. Attendees can expect to learn about the differences between Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D; compare Medicare Advantage plans and supplements; and review the basics of Part D prescription drug coverage.
A series of events will be held at various library branches throughout October and November. Locations include Bucktown, Edgebrook, Woodson, West Pullman, Austin-Irving, Garfield Ridge, Humboldt Park, Roden, Portage Cragin (Spanish-language session), Sulzer, Gage Park (Spanish-language session), Scottsdale, Harold Washington Library Center, Lozano (Spanish-language session), Altgeld, Greater Grand Crossing, Mount Greenwood, and Vodak–East Side. No registration is required unless specified in the event listing.
The open enrollment period for Medicare runs from October 15 to December 7. With updates expected under a new federal administration in 2026, the library encourages community members to stay informed about their options by attending these sessions. More information on specific dates and locations can be found through the Chicago Public Library’s Events Calendar.
