On August 16, Mission of Our Lady of the Angels held a back to school block party that provided over 750 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in the community. The event drew approximately 1,500 guests.
In addition to distributing backpacks and supplies, attendees were offered lunch and had access to a health and resource fair. There was also an opportunity for guests to participate in Eucharistic Adoration or light candles in the church.
The organization expressed gratitude to several partners and supporters who contributed to the event's success. "Thank you to Enchanted Backpacks, Notre Dame Parish (Clarendon Hills), Jimmy's Red Hots, the YMCA, Radical Generosity Chicago, Northwestern Medicine, Immaculate Conception High School, Our Lady of Mercy (Aurora), St. Juliana's (Chicago), Iskali, Young Catholic Professionals, our many vendors at the health/ resource fair, and everyone who helped make this event great!"
