Orr Academy High School in Chicago is preparing for its annual Spirit Week, scheduled for October 6–10, 2025. The event aims to encourage students from grades 9 through 12 to participate in themed activities and show their school spirit.

Each day of Spirit Week will feature a different theme. The schedule includes Mix Match Monday, Gender Bender Day, Decades Day, Senior Citizens Day, and concludes with a Pep Rally on Friday. In addition to these events, School Picture Day is set for Wednesday, October 8.

The announcement states: "Get ready to show your school pride during Spirit Week, October 6–10, 2025! Each day brings a new theme and a chance to show off your creativity and enthusiasm. From Mix Match Monday and Gender Bender Day, to Decades Day, Senior Citizens Day, and our big Pep Rally Friday, there’s something for everyone! Don’t forget—School Picture Day is Wednesday, October 8, so bring your best freestyle look. Let’s make this year’s Homecoming one to remember!"

Orr Academy High School serves approximately 230 students across grades 9 to 12 as of the 2019-2020 academic year. The student body consists primarily of Black students (90 percent), with Hispanic students making up the remaining 10 percent according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Grade distribution data from that year shows that grade 10 had the largest share of enrollment at about 22.5 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), while grade levels nine through twelve each made up roughly one-fifth of the student population.

The week-long event provides opportunities for all enrolled students—including those in grade levels with higher concentrations such as tenth grade—to engage with their peers and celebrate school community spirit (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
