A virtual discussion about menopause will be held on October 21, 2025, in collaboration with the Chicago Women's Health Center. The workshop will be led by Scout Bratt and will address the effects of menopause on physical health, mental well-being, and relationships. The session aims to review historical research and address misinformation related to menopause.
Participants will learn about treatment options and practices for self-care and community care. The event is structured around a feminist perspective on menopause. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions by October 16 via email; similar questions may be grouped together, but not all inquiries can be addressed during the session.
Additional resources about menopause are available through MEDLINE and the International Menopause Society, which offers fact sheets, terminology guides, videos, and podcasts. The library's Adult Selection Team has also recommended a list of books on the subject.
The library plans to offer more programs focused on menopause and perimenopause in November and throughout next year. Updates will be posted online along with information in the library’s calendar of events.
