McGaw YMCA Board Chair Mark Metz and his wife, Noreen Edwards, have passed the halfway mark in their cross-country bike ride to raise support for the YMCA Men’s Residence housing program and its planned renovation. The couple began their 4,100-mile journey on August 24 from Florence, Oregon, traveling along the TransAmerica Trail.
So far, they have biked approximately 3,000 miles. During their trip in October, Metz and Edwards climbed steep hills in the Ozarks and crossed into Illinois. They also spent time connecting with other cyclists and communities across several states. Their journey included moments of rest, attending a wedding, maintaining their bicycles, and celebrating the addition of a new family member.
