Local School Council election nominations open for Westinghouse High School

Applications are now open for candidates interested in participating in the 2026 Local School Council (LSC) elections. The process invites parents, community members, staff, and students to consider running for a seat on their school’s council. At Westinghouse High School in Chicago, which serves grades 9 through 12, there were 1,238 students enrolled during the 2019-2020 academic year according to the Illinois Report Card. The school’s student body included 48.6 percent Black students, 43.1 percent Hispanic students, 5.7 percent Asian students, and 1.5 percent white students (Illinois Report Card).

Enrollment data shows that grade 9 had the highest proportion of students at Westinghouse High School with 27.1 percent of all enrolled students (Illinois Report Card). Other grades had similar distributions: grade 10 made up 24.4 percent, grade 11 comprised 26.4 percent, and grade 12 accounted for about a quarter of the student population (Illinois Report Card).
