When the Rev. Seth Wispelwey launched his podcast "Fill the Jar" last year, his aim was to reassure listeners that they are not alone. As the minister for Economic Justice with the United Church of Christ (UCC), Wispelwey described the podcast as, “It’s not an information dump of inside language of economics, but something I hope will give people nourishment and sustenance in their day-to-day lives.”
The latest episode, available on the UCC Channel on Spotify, features an interview with Rev. Michael Neuroth, Director of UCC's Office of Public Policy and Advocacy. This office is situated on Capitol Hill, positioning it at the heart of political activities in Washington D.C. Recently, Neuroth participated in a rally at Lafayette Square opposing an Executive Order that suspends refugee resettlement.
Neuroth stated during the podcast, “It’s not just to lift the work of the United Church of Christ,” emphasizing their collaboration with ecumenical and interfaith partners to represent a broader moral perspective in the U.S. He added, “We are always working with others like the National Council of Churches, the Presbyterians, Methodists, Jewish community, and Muslim community.” He expressed optimism about this collective effort: “hope in doing this together, building a more united front.”
