The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) has unveiled its 2025 highway construction project map. The map, developed by the Cook County Bureau of Technology's Geographic Information Systems Division, showcases all projects either in progress or set to commence this year. These projects aim to maintain, upgrade, and expand the county’s transportation infrastructure.
“We’re pleased to provide residents with a convenient platform for information and updates that will help them move around the County in a safe and efficient manner throughout the 2025 construction season,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “Helping residents understand where and when construction projects are underway allows them to plan additional travel time or consider alternate routes.”
There are 29 projects listed on the mobile-friendly map. Eight new projects will start this spring, 10 projects are continuations from previous years, and 11 more will begin later this year. Information provided for each project includes an expected start date, an overview, benefits, and scope. DoTH will update the map as new projects commence, and the public is encouraged to visit the site regularly for updates.
“The 2025 construction schedule includes activities that will benefit over 34 municipalities across the County,” said DoTH Superintendent Jennifer “Sis” Killen. “This year’s projects will include roadway reconstruction and resurfacing, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, traffic signal modernization and replacement, drainage improvements and large-scale projects.”
Residents have the option to enter an address to find information about nearby construction projects. They can also click on orange highlighted sections on the map or use navigation arrows to explore different projects.

Additionally, DoTH has teamed up with the Villages of Skokie, Stickney, Forest View, Bensenville, and Franklin Park for significant projects along Old Orchard Road, Central Ave. Bridge, and Franklin Street/Green Street. These sites include detailed information about the projects and their current stages of construction.
Notable targets include the Central Avenue bridge project, expected to be completed in 2025, Old Orchard Road projected for substantial completion in 2026, and the Franklin/Green project, anticipated to last several construction seasons with a completion goal set for 2027.
