Julia Maria Roman Rosario Dies at 69 in Chicago

Julia Maria Roman Rosario, born on Feb. 20, 1956, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 69 in Chicago, Ill. She is survived by her daughters Melissa Rosario Rivera, Yahaira Rosario, Katiria Santiago, and Jantel Santiago, along with 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Julia fought cancer for 5 years and was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Julia, who came to Chicago as a child, was known for her love of cartoons, music, and animals. Her favorite shows included Cops, Chips, and Star Trek, while her favorite songs were Unbreak My Heart and Killing Me Softly. She had a passion for carnations, just like her mother, and enjoyed indulging in meat dishes and sweets such as Baby Ruth, Sugar Daddy's, and Boston Baked Beans.

Described as a strong, independent, and fierce woman, Julia's greatest legacy is her four daughters, whom she raised as a single mother, instilling in them resilience and determination. Her family expressed gratitude for the life she gave them and vowed to carry her lessons in their hearts forever.

In honor of Julia, the family welcomes floral tributes or tree plantings as gestures of remembrance.
