The upcoming Preaching and Worship Summit, titled “For Such a Time as This,” seeks to provide resources for crafting messages and worshipful responses in the context of current global challenges. These include issues such as war, genocide, climate crisis, and instances of racism, misogyny, and transphobia at high levels of governance.

Rev. Cameron Trimble, CEO of Convergence—a support organization grounded in inclusivity and collaboration—stated: “This spring, we’re turning our attention to a question that feels urgent and essential: ‘What does it mean to speak faithfully and boldly in public spaces as authoritarianism rises and democracy is under threat?’”

The summit will run from Monday, May 19 to Thursday, May 22. It will feature a series of videos on preaching, leading worship, digital ministry, and online church activities. These videos are accessible for free during the event.

Prominent figures involved include Rev. Jacqui Lewis from Middle Collegiate Church in New York City; Rev. John Dorhauer from First Congregational UCC in DeKalb, Illinois; and Rev. Jo Nygard-Owens from Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C., among others.

Each day will also feature a live Zoom conversation at noon. Trimble emphasized the learning opportunity by stating: “Over four days, we’ll learn from some of today’s most gifted public theologians – leaders who are shaping the moral narrative of our time.”

Participants are encouraged to engage with sermons and presentations while reflecting on their composition and delivery methods.

Trimble noted that the summit is open not only to preachers but also to anyone aspiring to become a more impactful public voice across various platforms including public speaking or personal conversations.

Registration for live participation is free with an option for lifetime access purchase. Trimble added: “This summit is designed to strengthen your voice, deepen your courage, and equip you to speak into this moment with prophetic imagination and faithful hope – building together a more just and generous world.”
